The impressive Nankendorfer Mühle is located directly on the Wiesent and was first mentioned in 1539. This means that she can look back on a long and eventful history, which unfortunately also includes a roof truss fire in the early 19th century. It has been used to generate electricity since 2004. The place name (formerly "Anckenhoff", which may contain the Latin word agnus (sheep)) could indicate the former sheep husbandry.
The church in Nankendorf was mentioned in various documents in 850. The actual parish appeared in writings around 987. In 1748 the former fortified church was replaced by the new parish church of St. Jakob and Martin by the Waischenfeld architect Wenzel Schwesner.
Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century, the town became an independent rural community, which also included the two hamlets of Aalkorb and Kaupersberg.
