The splendor and knights' halls of the well-preserved Rabenstein Castle can be explored on a guided tour and also learn about the history of the masonry. After the castle tour you can then comfortably in the Gutsschenke or dine royally in the castle restaurant.

The opening times of the restaurants and the exact times of the guided tours can be found at

If you have visited the castle Rabenstein, then the view from the opposite vantage point and / or the tailor hole is the ideal complement to the visit.
    One should, however, be sure-footed.

A visit to the castle is not worth it, as the conversion to the hotel nothing more of the original rooms can be seen.

The castle Rabenstein is daily to visit several times. With its magnificent halls, it offers the ideal setting for weddings, family and company celebrations of all sizes and is also a popular meeting location. As a hotel, it has 22 individually designed rooms. In the evening, the castle restaurant entices with culinary delights.

Beautiful castle, which you can visit for a fee. Right next to it is a nice restaurant with a shady beer garden.

Nearby the castle is the Sophienhöhle. The path to the cave is signposted. The visit is worthwhile. Likewise also the visit of the falconry or the birds of prey show.

The Höhenburg is located in the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park on a rocky mountain spur at about 420 meters above the valley of the Ailsbach in the Franconian Switzerland, 6.5 kilometers northwest of Pottenstein. Within walking distance of the castle is the Sophienhöhle a tourist attractive stalactite cave.
The oldest parts of the castle were built in the first quarter of the 12th century as a residence in the Waischenfeld dominion.

Beautiful castle complex. Castle tours are possible and twice a year a great medieval festival takes place. In the Burgschänke you can eat good bourgeois for a fair price.

Very interesting castle tour with relaxed sayings and background information. The castle is newly renovated and therefore looks modern. To marvel at is the very beautiful interior design of the rooms.

For me, Rabeneck Castle is the most beautiful and imposing castle in Franconian Switzerland. The castle is a hotel but can still be visited.

  • Neubürg

The castle is first mentioned at the end of the 12th century in connection with the noble free von Waischenfeld, before it fell to the burgraves of Nuremberg in 1347 and was destroyed in 1460. Rebuilt from 1489 to 1495 by Konz von Wirsberg, the subsequent owners, the Barons von Rabenstein, converted it into a Renaissance castle in 1570. During the Thirty Years' War the facility was burned down by the Waischenfeldern due to the relationship with the Swedes and was not rebuilt until 1692. After a long period of vacancy and decay, another renovation took place in 1829. Rabenstein Castle is now one of the tourist attractions in Franconian Switzerland and is known, among other things, for northern Bavaria's largest medieval market.
