The small fort Heidenstock was probably also built like the neighboring small fort Altes Jagdhaus, in the 2nd century AD to reinforce the Limes and probably had the task here to guard an ancient Limesübergang. The castle had dimensions of 19.5 m x 23.5 m (440 sqm) and had a gate, which was directed to the Limes. The crew was either provided by the cohort fort Saalburg or by the numerus fort Feldberg. Of the internal development is unfortunately, except for a fire pit, which was found within the walls, known nothing. The fort lies in the middle of the forest, but is touched by the Limeswanderweg from Sandplacken to Saalburg.
