The Grosser Feldberg with its 881 meters is the highest mountain of the Taunus and one of the most striking high mountain peaks in Germany. It forms the center of the so-called Taunus main ridge. The landmark of the mountain is the 50 meter high telecommunications tower, which was built in 1937. In addition to the transmitter mast are on the plateau three other towers, one of which is to climb. From here you have a fantastic view over the Rhine-Main area to the Odenwald. With a lot of luck and an optimal view, you can even see as far as Strasbourg.
The 40 meter high observation tower is usually open Monday to Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm to 4pm and weekends from 10am to 6pm. The times may vary depending on the weather. The ascent costs 2.50 euros.
