The prerequisite for fair sporting competitions are the same conditions on all tracks. The 130 m wide regatta course is marked along the entire length according to the Albano system and thus enables a precise and unmistakable separation of the individual lanes.

In rowing regattas, a traffic light start system is always used, which, in addition to the optical start command, also generates an acoustic signal. Thanks to special lighting technology, the start signal can even be seen from the finish area in good weather.

Modern interim measuring devices can be used along the regatta course, which provide the necessary overview of the development of the race in real time. In order to be able to assess the finish line exactly, the Cologne Regatta Association has a modern, digital photo-finish camera, which shows even the smallest time intervals at the finish and thus ensures an exact result evaluation.

Furthermore, a bubbling waterline supports the spectators, who thanks to this technology can follow the finish line even from an unfavorable angle.
