What, where, and is Blee? This is an old district in the very south, between Alfred-Nobel-Straße, Heilerberg, and Rheinuferstraße, right on the city border with Leverkusen-Hitdorf. Those who live there live in Blee, not "in der Blee" (unfortunately, this phrase is often heard and read).
        Oberhof in the 10th century
In 1955, the wider route further west was built for through traffic, and in 1967, Bleer Straße was relocated westward between Zaunswinkelstraße and Brückenschleeweg. There, too, the old route is still preserved as a parallel roadway.
In the 12th and 13th centuries, the Altenberg Abbey acquired land in Blee. Friends and supporters of the Altenberg Cistercian monks were the knight Sibodo von Blee (Sibodonius de Bleche) and his wife Petronilla.
In 1246, a branch chapel of St. Gereon's Church was mentioned, and from 1399, a Rhine ferry operated in Blee. However, it was also the Rhine that constantly threatened Blee. Although the banks were reinforced with wooden piles, Blee was flooded during high water. A particularly strong flood eventually swept away most of the settlement, including the chapel, probably no later than the first half of the 16th century.
The "Rheinische Presshefe- und Spritwerke AG" (Rheinische Presshefe- und Spritwerke AG), founded in 1908 and now the [external] yeast factory Uniferm, built a spacious director's and guest house in the 1920s. In August 2003, it was demolished to make way for the company kindergarten of Schwarz Pharma AG. The distinctive tower belonging to the property, located at Rheinuferstraße 19, was preserved and is a listed building. Locals nicknamed it the "Mouse Tower," probably due to its vague resemblance to the Mouse Tower in Bingen. The tower was designed by Monheim architect Ferdinand Crone (1889–1963). He also designed the town hall on Alte Schulstraße and the Lottenschule (Lotten School).
