The Ziegelwiese can be reached from the east via Peißnitzstraße, from the west via the Peißnitz, from the north via the banks of the Rive and from the south via the cube meadow.

Every year, the traditional lantern festival in Halle takes place on and around the Ziegelwiese. On the lawn, next to the university sports field, there is a fountain and fountain pond, a playground and an extensive dog park.
