Location: Oranienburg, Oberhavel, Ruppiner Lakeland, Brandenburg, Germany
The nature reserve Lubowsee is a natural and trouble-free wetland with a high structural diversity. The core of the area is formed by the flat, mostly moored Lubowsee, which is connected to the Rahmer See by a running water. The Lubowsee is surrounded by species-rich riparian vegetation as well as Großseggenrieden, wet alder-rye forests, reed beds, wet meadows, peat plant communities and extensively used grassland areas. Threatened species such as Round-leaved Sundew, Swamp Calla or Fever Clover grow in these diverse habitats. For animals, especially for endangered species such as the grass snake or even the moor frog, it is an attractive habitat. For birds, especially for marsh and waterfowl, the area offers a nesting, resting and wintering place. The nature reserve was u.a. identified as European FFH due to the presence of beaver and otter. Floristically, the natural meadow forests with black alder and common ash as well as the whistling grass meadows are to be emphasized.
