"... The Hameren house is a former two-part moated castle in the town of Billerbeck, Coesfeld district, in the Münsterland. The complex is now a listed building.
The complex was built as a moated castle soon after 1325. At first it was the seat of the Hameren family of the same name, then later the Geldrischen nobleman Diderick von der Horst and from 1480 the von Raesfeld family; it is the birthplace of the prominent brothers Bernhard von Raesfeld, Gottfried von Raesfeld, Heinrich von Raesfeld, Arnd von Raesfeld, Bitter von Raesfeld and Dietrich Franz von Raesfeld. In 1543 the inheritance was divided into two halves, one of which later passed to the von Pallandt families and then to the von Schilder families. In 1755 both halves of the castle were brought together again. In 1788 the house came to von Kolff, in 1832 finally to von Merode and from these to von Twickel, who are still the owners today.
There is still a rectangular tower (donjon) from the late Middle Ages, probably the only castle building in the Münsterland that has hardly changed from the Middle Ages. ... "

Small lake along the way. Everything is clean and nicely embedded in nature. There are no benches.
