On a wooded hilltop on the Daruper Berg, near Bundesstraße 67 (Federal Highway 67) to Coesfeld, lies a remarkable pilgrimage chapel. It was built close to a sunken lane that marks the old country road. The small hall, with its chamfered corners, truss roof, and ridge turret, dates from 1753. Inside is a magnificent, life-sized sandstone crucifix on a tree cross, revered as miraculous, created by the sculptor (Wilhelm Heinrich) Kocks in 1718.
It is a wonderful experience to ring the old bell yourself.

Beautifully embedded ravine between Darup (valley) and Waldkapelle (mountain). Various wood carvings on trees and tree stumps on the way: faces, masks, grimaces (not scary). Easy to walk, even with a stroller in dry weather.
