The Powder Tower is located on the old city wall, where you can walk along very nicely.
April 18, 2017
The Angermünde city wall was first mentioned in a document in 1292. A building inscription on the southern city wall states that the wall was fundamentally renewed in 1600.
The original height was about 7 m, the width about 1 m. 4 city gates, the Berliner Tor in the southwest, the Schwedter Tor in the east, the smaller Seetor in the north and the Prenzlauer Tor in the west, connected the city with the surrounding area. 36 small fortification towers, the Wiekhäuser, served to defend and protect the wall. Of the larger defense towers, only the Powder Tower has survived.

Along the alley at the Pulverturm there is still a piece of the once 2.7 kilometer long city wall from the 13th century. Only the base is made of field stones - everything above it was made of bricks. With the expansion of the city, the wall disappeared except for a few remnants and with it the four city gates. However, the powder tower has been preserved. It is 21 meters high and 3.50 meters deep. Storks have been nesting on its peak since 1850.
