From each of these pillars one had visual axes to the surrounding elevations, the distances between which could be measured in this way.
The most prominent in the view of the Gohligs are probably the Borsberg, the Wilisch, the Kahleberg, the Cottaer Spitzberg, Lilienstein and Großer Zschirnstein, although there were no measuring axes for the latter.
