The old town hall was built between 1575 and 1577 with curved Renaissance gables. After the war it was rebuilt in a simplified form after being almost completely destroyed. Since the interior renovation between 1996 and 1998, it now houses the registry office and the tourist
Information. Tasks in the tourism and cultural sector are also performed. In addition to civil weddings, cultural events, receptions and honors take place here. On the gable on the market side there is a carillon, a gift from the Stadtsparkasse for the 700th birthday of the city in 1989 (for seasons see entrance). The front is decorated with the Haltern city coat of arms (stylized horse halter) and a sundial. The market square has always been a meeting place for young and old, for residents and visitors to the city. It was designed to be "traffic-free" in 1983/84. The fountain from 1988 is reminiscent of the lever pump that was previously located here and which served as a water supply until 1907. The bronze figure group was created by the Haltern artist Helmut Schlüter in 1988.

The old town hall of Haltern am See was built in 1575 - 1577 on the north side of the market square with Renaissance gables. After considerable damage in the last world war, it was rebuilt in a simplified form between 1948 and 1952. In 1997/1998 it was completely renovated for the first time after this reconstruction. Today it is a two-storey building in an eaves position, the ground floor is open in a gazebo with four pointed arches. Since the interior renovation in 1996 - 1998, it has housed the registry office, the city agency and the tourist information office.
In addition to civil weddings, cultural events, receptions and awards are held here.
