The Lippe is one of the most idyllic rivers in Germany. In 2018 the water was even named "River Landscape of the Year". Most of the floodplains along the Lippe are under nature protection, but the nitrate levels in the Lippe are very high. As a tributary of the Rhine, the Lippe is 220 kilometers long and meanders through North Rhine-Westphalia .
