Altensteig Castle is located on the slope of the old town. It was built in the 13th century as a residential tower with a half-timbered tower and curtain wall. The attached castle was built later. From the 18th century, the half-timbered top was partially removed for use as construction timber. Today there is a museum in the castle with a castle garden, blacksmith shop and exhibits. The castle courtyard is freely accessible and the tower can also be visited outside the opening times of the museum.
