The Samoarsee, which is picturesquely situated on a high plateau at an altitude of 2920 meters, is also called Brizzisee.
Brizzisee because Franz Senn, curate in Vent, once commissioned the Munich painter Brizzi to paint a panorama of the magnificent glacier world. A hut was built near the lake especially for the painter. The so-called Brizzihütte has now fallen into disrepair and only a few remains of the wall indicate that a hut once stood here.
The lake is located at the foot of the Kreuzspitze and is easy to miss on the ascent, as it can only be seen in retrospect on the normal route.
A detour (the lake is to the left of the path to the Kreuzspitze) is very worthwhile.
There have also been die-hard mountaineers who have bathed in the lake.

The brave take a refreshing bath here at the end of the tour :-)
