    Stadtcafé Wittenberger * Straße 95

Some Perlebergers still know the Stadtcafé as "Café Voigt".

The tradition of the house began in 1819 with the opening of a gingerbread bakery and later a confectionery.

The confectioner Carl Voigt bought the neighboring property from the barber Abel at the beginning of the 20th century and enlarged the café.

The colored glass window from that time, which was extensively restored in 2001, is of particular value. The café served exquisite specialties such as marzipan, tree and gingerbread, stollen, speculatius as well as tea, ZUNZ coffee and coffee house music.

The two sisters Ilse and Clara Voigt ran the house until the 1960s, which was eventually known under the name of the later owner as "Cafe Grohn".

      City Café

The houses, which essentially date back to the 18th century and were built as half-timbered buildings (No. 95) and solid buildings (No. 96), were combined to form a single building in 1900 to enlarge the café.

Extensive renovation work was carried out between 1996 and 1998. The stained glass window was also extensively restored as a valuable reminder of the Art Nouveau era in Perleberg.

In the traditional "Café Voigt" (later "Café Grohn"), an inscription from the founder of the business from 1818 indicates the traditional use of the old confectionery, pastry shop and café.
