Hiking
The Heroes' Memorial was erected on Friedrich-Engels-Platz – then Hindenburgplatz – to commemorate the soldiers who died in the First World War. A 2.5-meter-tall Roland statue with a shield and sword stands on the base. The inscription on the base reads: "Patience! I know my Germans!" The Heroes' Memorial was ceremoniously unveiled on August 29, 1926.
