The former factory building of the Yenidze cigarette factory is one of the architectural sights of the city of Dresden. It is located on Weißeritzstrasse on the eastern edge of Friedrichstadt, not far from the congress center. The structure planned by Martin Hammitzsch from 1908 to 1909 has a total height of 62 meters and is now used as an office building.

The new factory building, constructed in 1908/1909 and reminiscent of an Islamic mosque, was initiated by Hugo Zietzim, who founded the Oriental Tobacco and Cigarette Factory in 1886. In 1925, Reemtsma took over the Yenidze Cigarette Factory and produced the Salem brands Salem Gold, Salem Auslese, and Salem No. 6 at the Dresden plant.

Today, the Yenidze serves as an office building and restaurant. Readings are regularly held in the dome (1001maerchen.de).

Hiking

Along with the Frauenkirche, the Semperoper, and the Zwinger Palace, the Yenidze is Dresden's most striking building. Built in the style of a mosque, the former cigarette factory stands out clearly from the Baroque and Renaissance buildings of the city center. Located on the eastern edge of Dresden's Friedrichstadt district, just a few minutes' walk from the city center, the Yenidze now offers central, prestigious office and commercial space.
