Mons is called mountains in Dutch. Like many cities with a Flemish-influenced history, there is a Grote Markt or Grand-Place with an impressive bell tower in the city center. The Belfry of Mons was built in the 17th century and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another eye-catcher in the historic center is the late Gothic town hall from the 15th century.
