The Graben is one of the most famous streets in the center of Vienna's Old Town, the 1st district. It starts from the Stock-im-Eisen-Platz / Stephansplatz (with the Stephansdom) at the beginning of the Kärntner Straße and leads to the northwest to the transverse axis Kohlmarkt-Tuchlauben. From the Graben, which was designed as a pedestrian area place-like, branch off narrow historic streets. It acts as a luxurious shopping and shopping street and, together with Kärntner Straße and Kohlmarkt, forms the "golden U" of Viennese commerce.

The Graben Wien is an exclusive and pulsating pedestrian zone in the heart of the city center with a plague column. The street, which dates back to Roman times, is limited by no less well-known alleys, streets and squares, which also stand for the typical flair, elegant tradition and gourmet enjoyment: Stephansplatz, Kohlmarkt, Naglergasse, Tuchlauben and Petersplatz.

The boulevard is home to Vienna's finest traditional shops, which were already known as "purveyors to the court" of the emperor, in its buildings, most of which date from the 17th or 18th century. These include the Augarten porcelain factory, the court jeweler Heldwein and the court perfumer Nägele & Strubell. An exclusive branch of H&M is now housed in the premises of the former court men's outfitter Braun, the historically noble interior has been preserved.

There are also plenty of coffeehouses and restaurants between all the shops. Especially in the side streets you will discover many small restaurants. In Dorotheergasse, for example, the Hawelka coffee house has been known as a Viennese institution since 1939, where you can sometimes meet prominent artists in a rustic atmosphere.

The Julius Meinl branch at the end of the grave (corner of Naglergasse) is recommended for gourmets. The gourmet supermarket carries exquisite Austrian and international food. Here shopping becomes an experience and an edible souvenir from Vienna can be found in no time at all. Julius Meinl also became known for his excellent coffee, which you can enjoy in the adjoining coffee house with a view of the boulevard. The well-stocked wine cellar with the wine bar is located in the basement.

The Graben is one of the most famous streets in the center of Vienna's old town, the 1st district. It is a luxurious shopping and promenade street decorated with historical buildings, fountains and monuments. It has a long and exciting history dating back to Roman times.

The ditch starts from Stock-im-Eisen-Platz / Stephansplatz (with St. Stephen's Cathedral) at the beginning of Kärntner Straße and runs north-west to the Kohlmarkt - Tuchlauben transverse axis. Narrow historic alleys branch off from the Graben and lead to other sights such as St. Peter's Church or the Dorotheum. The Graben is designed as a square-like pedestrian area and offers a pleasant atmosphere for walkers.

The Graben is also a place of art and culture. It is home to some of the city's most prestigious shops, boutiques and cafés, such as Julius Meinl am Graben, Frick am Graben or Café de l'Europe. It is also a scene for various festivals and events, such as the Christmas market or the carnival parade. It is a meeting point for locals and tourists, who can enjoy the flair and beauty of Vienna here.
