Beautiful hiking car park before entering the Treidlerweg.

This information board is located at the moderately sized hiking car park on Treidlerweg in Rheinstrasse 21. There are additional parking spaces at the large insect house.

Description of the Treidlerweg: On the trail of the Treidler you will discover one of the few internationally protected and still ecologically intact floodplain landscapes. The circular hiking trail leads you along the Michelsbach, past fields of yellow irises, fields of grass and reeds. The numerous fish ponds - the earth pits - stocked with pond and water lilies, offer a magical sight. Follow in the footsteps of the towers along the Rhine. Before the invention of steam shipping, ships had been hauled upriver since the 8th century, that is, servants or draft animals pulled the ship from the bank on a long line against the current. Watch the river with its leisurely gliding ships. A specialty of the Rheinaue is the still occurring wild grapevine, one of the rarest and most culturally and historically valuable Palatine plant species. You will encounter pheasants and stilts under willows, poplars, ash trees and elms.
