The Probstsee in Möhringen originally emerged from the clay pit of the Berthold Probst pottery factory founded in 1893. After the closure of the company in 1934, the groundwater in the clay pit was no longer pumped out, which is how today's Probstsee was created.
In 1961, most of the lake and the adjacent areas were designated as green areas and placed under landscape protection. In 2003 it was designated as an extensive natural monument.
You can stroll along the riverside path along the north and east sides and enjoy the view of the lake from numerous seats. The Reiherstrasse playground with a football field and numerous play facilities is also in the immediate vicinity.
