The blue color of the lake, which is sacred to Maori, is totally unreal in the landscape. A grandiose sight. Above all, it is worthwhile to have lunch here on the water and to relax your feet a bit.

A wonderful and very varied hike. Definitely recommended, but please remember the appropriate footwear, sunscreen and water. In the summer season, only 4 hours can be parked at the two access car parks. So if you do not have a friendly bring and pick up service, you need a shuttle bus.

Beautiful, the view of the lakes when you come from the Red Crater! The Emerald Lakes and the Blue Lake are very cold and very acidic because of the volcanic minerals. The Blue Lake is sacred to the Maori, which is why it should not be touched.
