The 657 meter high Ellerspring is the highest mountain in the Soonwald. The summit of the mountain is densely forested and on top of it stands an old telecommunications tower. However, it is fenced and can not be climbed.

Much more interesting than the tower is the trekking camp Ellerspring, which is located in a hidden clearing on the mountain. One night must be booked in advance. After a reservation you will get the exact position as GPS coordinates. All information about the trekking camp can be found at soonwaldsteig.de/trekkingcamps/die-camps/trekkingcamp-ellerspring.
