The potato tree at the prominent fork in the road used to be an oak tree that fell victim to the advancing Americans in World War II. After the war, a chestnut was planted on this spot; A potato tree No. 2, so to speak. The name, as known to everyone who walks in the forest between Mausbach, Zweifall and Vossenack, was also retained for this tree.

Great highlight, highly recommended, well worth a visit even with children! Particularly noteworthy are the decorated with difficulty potato faces, which were hung in different places in the tree. With the shelter and rest hut an ideal destination for various sports.

Well, actually the potato tree is a chestnut and stands in a small clearing in Hürtgenwald near Zweifall. It is probably a hundred-year-old tradition to hang on the tree imaginatively decorated and decorated potatoes. So do not forget the potato on a walk or on a bike tour!
