        General information about the museum

In 2002, the municipality of Zweifaller decided, in collaboration with the former forest office of Hürtgenwald, to find a place of accommodation for the old and proven sawmill technology. Instead of being scrapped, a saw frame and a band saw found a new home in the current sawmill museum of the Forsthaus Zweifall.

Two partners are working together on this project: the regional forestry and forestry company NRW - Regional Forest Office Rureifel-Jülicher Börde, which provides the land and the building, and the Förderverein Museumssägewerk Zweifall eV, which was founded in autumn 2008 and is responsible for the financial support of the sawmill and the demonstration of old sawmill technology to the public. Volunteers provide supervision and demonstrate the saws.
