The new theme trail "Drifterlebnispfad Legelbach" starts at this point (parking lot "An der Schmelz"), and here you can find information flyers about the different route options. Our favorite: the middle loop!
The very first information board No. 1 is not at the parking lot, but further ahead at the mouth of the Legelbach into the Speyerbach (drift system).
This theme trail is very beautiful, especially the many paths directly along the babbling Legalbach - with numerous rest areas at old drift systems.
The black foil that can be found everywhere is intended to manually remove the Japanese knotweed.

At the Legelbach in the Elmsteiner Tal lies one of the most important and best-preserved examples of a small Triftbach which flows into the Speyerbach. Have fun exploring.
The transport of wood by water was the most important industry in the area. The ingenious system of the wood drift can be hiked and experienced here. In the Bavarian period, all streams were re-planned, although the Holztrift had been around since the Middle Ages. From around 1820 the systems were built in sandstone, which is why they are still preserved today. Most of the un jointed stone blocks are so well worked and set that they are often still intact even after 200 years.
