For the resistance fighters Lotte and Erich Garske, who were executed in 1943, their friends erected a memorial stone at Springsee during the Nazi era. On the riverside path, a memorial plaque commemorates her and the group who - as a close relative told us - drove from Berlin with folding boats and bicycles to Springsee in the 1920s. They spent their weekends and holidays here and discussed - unobserved - their political actions.
