Since its construction in 1910, the Bismarckturm on the Knabenburg has been a popular destination. A wooden spiral staircase leads to the observation tower, in the end of which a fire bowl is installed. Originally on important anniversaries a symbolic firing of the shell in the spire took place. The construction of the 13.5-meter-high tower goes back to the call to create similar columns and waiting in memory of Chancellor Bismarck across the country. The tower on the Knabenburg was designed by the archtitect Wilhelm Kreis. The tower is entirely made of Weser sandstone and has a memorable square layout with four uprights in the corners. From 1997 the tower was accessible via a wooden staircase with 61 steps to the viewing platform. Currently, an ascent to the tower is no longer possible.Source (regi-on.de/kultur-freizeit/freizeit-erholung/sehenswuerdigkeiten/79.htm)
