The Ruhr Viaduct between Herdecke and Hagen-Vorhalle was the largest of its time. The railway tracks run over the Ruhr at a height of 30 meters and a length of 313 meters. The line was inaugurated in 1879 as part of the Düsseldorf - Dortmund railway line.
