The cemetery was created 1933-1935. Fallen soldiers from World War I were reburied.
Today to commemorate the fallen from both world wars. Horrifying, considering the countless terrible experiences that these and all wars have brought to mankind.

The memorial to commemorate the victims of the wars is an extensive facility. From the memorial stone on the slope you have a view over the plain to Mannheim.

Masses of dead soldiers from the First World War are listed by name at the lookout point, alphabetically on large sandstone blocks. Some have their own cross. A very wide path leads away from this square, past the square where the dead soldiers of World War II are commemorated. Here nameless sandstone crosses stand on a wide, tree-lined area.
The millions of other victims of this and other wars and violence are remembered centrally at the viewing roundabout. A beautiful forest, a great view of the Rhine valley and yet an oppressive place.
