Hiking Highlight
The Hörnumer southern tip sinks slowly in the sea. Every year, considerable parts of the Odde are eroded by storms and disappear forever. Sooner or later, experts agree that the narrow southern tip will break off. Although the Landesbetrieb für Küstenschutz, the Schleswig-Holstein National Park and Marine Protection Authority and the Wattenmeer Ark are doing their utmost to preserve the Hörnum-Odde, the condition of the southern tip is scary.

Very beautiful beach here on the southern tip of Sylt.
On a clear day you can see the neighboring islands Amrum and Föhr.
With every major storm surge, the North Sea takes a piece of the beach.
However, the island administration also undertakes some not so much more mainland and beach of Sylt disappears. So each year at different sections in Sylt sea sand from 8 km away sucked and the beaches thus rebuilt.
