Hiking
The Hörnum Odde is a popular resting place for migratory birds such as Sanderlings and Knots, which gather here in their thousands in spring and autumn during their migration. At high tide, you can observe their impressive aerial maneuvers from the Salzwiesenweg as they gather on the sand spit to rest. Then they sit close together, preen their feathers, and sleep. Terns, plovers, and dunlins are very sensitive to disturbance and prefer sandbanks that are not accessible to humans.
