You should definitely visit this place in Walkenried. Walkenried Monastery, a former Cistercian abbey, includes the ruins of the monastery church and the largely preserved Gothic cloister building. This was converted into a museum in 2006. Since 2010, the monastery complex has been part of the Upper Harz Water Management UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A place with a lot of history. Well worth seeing. The annual monastery market is particularly recommended. 😉 More information at kloster-walkenried.de.

Just go there and look. The outlines of the foundation walls are impressive. It must have been a gigantic building.
