    The former inner German border ran exactly through the two tribes of the two-country regions in the Ellricher city forest. The special stamp "Zweiländereiche" is one of three special stamps (next to Jungborn and Dreiländerstein) that must be hiked to acquire the "Harzer Grenzweg" themed hiking needle.

    A sign on the two borders explains the different boundary stones:
    KP = Kingdom of Prussia
    HB = Duchy of Braunschweig (from 1816)
    ST W = Stiftsamt Walkenried (after 1668)
    GDR = boundary stone from 1968

    At the Zweiländereiche is also a sign that explains the different border stones:
    KP = Kingdom of Prussia
    HB = Duchy of Brunswick (from 1816)
    ST W = Abbey Office Walkenried (after 1668)
    DDR = landmark since 1968

    Special post office Zweiländereiche for the marking of the Harzer Grenzweg. On the whole leg of the Harz border road there are three of these stamp areas. Zweiländereiche (Ellrich), Dreiländerstein (Rothesütte) and Jungborn (Stapelburg)

    The two countries oak grows exactly on the former German-German border. From there you can hike on the border path up to the Wendeleiche.

    The former inner German border ran right through the two tribes of Zweiländereiche in Ellricher city forest. A convenient starting point is the parking lot at the entrance of the city forest. From there you can reach the "Spitzen Winkel" and hike on the "Harzer Grenzweg" on the former inner German border past historic landmarks to the "Zweiländereiche".

    The special cancellation "Zweiländereiche" is one of three special stamps (in addition to Jungborn and three-country stone), which must be hiked to acquire the HWN "Harz border road".

    The border here is a bit more romantic than elsewhere, where the martial fortifications are directly visible.

    Very beautiful natural hiking trail, even after the two-country oak it is worthwhile to stay on the path and hike to the Wendeleiche.

    Although there is "only" a special cancellation, but the place is worth a detour. We searched and found all border marks.

    Everything essential has already been written in this portal about the 2 national areas. It is worth knowing, and it should also be mentioned that the border at that time ran exactly between the trunks of the two oaks.
    Due to the history, there is a special postmark of the Harzer hiking pin here.

    Only very inconspicuous but luckily the stamp box stands out here a little. Otherwise you might go over.

    Beautiful calm cookie in the forest with historical meaning. Tafel suburb explain the individual landmarks and thus give an overview of the history of this place.
