The Wendeleiche is a lookout point between Zorge and Sülzhayn. The oak owes its name to a spiral staircase that was built at the beginning of the 20th century to reach the viewing platform in the crown of the oak. As the oak was only a few meters from the former inner-German border, the GDR border troops dismantled the spiral staircase and the viewing platform. Today, only two rusty iron structures remind us of the spiral staircase. From the car park at the spa in Zorge, the signposted mountain meadow path leads over the Wendeleiche to the stepmother HWN 164. From there, you can also easily include the "Roter Schuss" HWN 90 stamp point in the tour.
