For cyclists and walkers on the regional park route, the perennial pond is right on the way. Anyone coming through the Südpark, the spacious Kelsterbach amusement park, will find the former mining area directly behind the street "Am Südpark". Gravel and sand were mined there in the 1970s. Today the triangular lake is hidden behind tall trees.

The perennial pond used to be a mine site, in which gravel and sand were mined from 1936 to 1958. In 1962, the city of Kelsterbach transferred the fishing rights to a local fishing club, which is very committed to the care of the perennial pond. In the meantime, the perennial pond has become a real biotope, which can be experienced from the circular route or the viewpoints.
