Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
2020The open space design of the foreland is the result of a competition decided in 2011. Thanks to the sensitive handling of the history and topography of the place, the redesign of the main foreland has become a key project of the city of Kelsterbach, which stages the unique location on the Main with the steep slope behind it, improves the quality of the recreational areas and at the same time the city with the regional park route networked. Large-scale measures, such as new, barrier-free access from the residential area on the Enka site or upgrading the mouth of the Kelster into the Main, were supplemented by selective measures. In addition to the optimized cycle path connection, historical buildings found were carefully integrated and the public space was enhanced by striking squares. In 2015 a new place was created at the mouth of the Kelster in the Main with a seating system on the river. The transition from Graf-de-Chardonnet-Platz to the waterfront takes place via the ›Mainblick‹ square and leads directly to the Mainstrand and Leinepfad with a footbridge and step system at the former bastion, which enables access to the Main. Around 100 meters further, at the harbor, an illuminated footbridge and step system leads from the bastion over a height difference of 14 meters into the Mainhöhe residential area.Extract from the architecture guide »Metropolitan Region Frankfurt Rhein-Main«, DOM publishers, Anna Scheuermann, Andrea Schwappach, Paul-Martin Lied

The main terrace invites you to linger, there is also a wine stand with seating. The Schlossplatz in Höechst with its half-timbered houses and castle is also worth seeing. The southern Main Cycle Path from Schwanheim to Frankfurt is also very beautiful.

A nice excursion to go for a walk.
Cyclists: Please slow down - slow down at this point - it is a hotspot for many people.
Take it slowly and you will come out relaxed ...
Just stop and have some water or get an ice cream and enjoy the arch in the Main. Many ships pass here and you can see them pretty close (without barriers or trees)
