The water tower, built in 1912-1913, has been an architectural monument since 2004. Today it is a little out of the way, a good 400m south of the Blankenheim-Wald reception building.
The tower was part of a small locomotive treatment plant with a two-tier locomotive shed and a coaling plant. The tower consists of the tower shaft built or veneered in quarry stone masonry, the mezzanine container with control and tent roof.
