    A very beautiful ruin with a magnificent view.

    You can climb up the castle's interior via newly installed metal stairs. However, if you're afraid of heights, don't look down... the floors are made of metal gratings, so you can see through them.

        It used to be assumed that the castle was built after the destruction of Altwindstein Castle after 1332, probably 1339, by Wilhelm von Windstein as a fief of the bishops of Speyer. However, this construction notice probably refers to the north complex of Altwindstein.
