The "Bergische Plateau" is the approx. 10 hectare area of the former Wichlinghausen marshalling yard. Looking east across the green areas you can still see the top of the Malakow Tower of the former Aug. Luhns soap factory. Around 1900 it was the largest in Germany. At that time, the rail deliveries to the Luhns soap factory took place via this station.
Today it is part of the Nordbahntrasse and only a few information boards still refer to its history.October 5, 2021
