    The PWV knight's stone no. 86 has the inscription "Schumacherboot" carved by a stonemason, in front of it a boot is visible in a rock slab. A shoemaker may have passed by here, the boot is also possibly the sign of the Bundschuh, the symbol of the rebellious peasants in 1525. The sign of the French revolutionary troops of 1794 was also the boot. The meaning is not exactly understandable.
    The Ritterstein is maintained and maintained by the Palatinate Forest Association (PWV).

      The rock slab “Shoemaker’s Boots” in front of the Ritterstein “marks the border between the districts of Maikammer and Kirrweiler. Both communities were members of the Haingeraide forest cooperative. [...]
      There are also two inscriptions stamped into the corners of the plate:
      top right: L D [possibly. reference to the shoemaker Daniel Leiner];
      Bottom right: 27 M 75.”
      The meaning of the rock slab is “shrouded in mystery” and “over the years, numerous interpretations of the inscriptions associated with the boot depicted have developed.”
