To get to the tallest tree in the Odenwald, you can take a dirt path either from above or from below. A nice route.

The tallest tree in the Odenwald is a Douglas fir and grows in a group of conspecifics in the Eberbach city forest. It measures exactly 64.77 meters from the base of the trunk to the top and has thus grown by around 2.30 meters since its last measurement 14 years ago. This has now been determined using a tachymeter, a device that measures the distance and angle of the targeted point.

It has been a while since one of the Eberbach tree giants was considered the tallest tree in Germany for years. In 2008 the Neckarstadt contested this title for a Douglas fir in the Freiburg forest. It currently towers over the Eberbach competitor by around two meters.

Meanwhile it is "only" still the highest tree in the Odenwald with 64.77 (measured 2018)! The highest is in Freiburg (66.58m 2017)

From the top of the trail is marked with a sign! From the bottom you have to see a small playground; behind it is a football goal, to the left of it on the sandstones begins the path!

A parking space (4 cars) is available at the Quellenweg / corner Königsberger Str. Otherwise, then stop in the residential area
