At 2,376 meters high, the Kreuzeck is one of the so-called grass mountains of the Rauheck Group. You can reach it on the Höhenweg between the Kemptner Hütte and the Prinz-Luitpold-Haus or via the Bettlerrücken, which is a little more demanding and also not a designated hiking trail.

It is a bit incomprehensible to recommend the ascent over the ridge for the masses here, as the terrain is steep and exposed.
Without a head for heights and sure-footedness, this is certainly no fun at all, and the direct ascent of ~1300 meters in altitude should not be underestimated either. The complete ascent without protection from the sun (and at least without water points at the top) is certainly not for everyone ;)
However, the character described above applies to the normal route via the Kemptner Hütte and further in the direction of Rauheck.

The Kreuzeck is next to the rugged peaks, like the Great Krottenkopf, a beautiful and welcome change. The Grasberg invites you to linger with its green back and the alpine flowers.
