The "Former Sieg Loop near Dreisel" nature reserve is located in the municipality of Windeck and encompasses a former loop of the Sieg River and parts of the Umlaufberg, a hill once surrounded by the Sieg. The now-dry former Sieg Loop, with its characteristic Umlaufberg, once surrounded by the Sieg, was formed by the cutting off of the Sieg Loop approximately 200,000 years ago. The Umlaufberg, located between Dreisel and Helpenstell, is the most impressive in the entire Sieg Valley, with a height difference of approximately 50 meters from the hilltop to the valley floor of the Umlauftal. naturregion-sieg.de/poi/naturschutzgebiet-ehemalige-siegschleife-bei-dreisel
