Hiking
The Altenbeken Viaduct, Europe's largest sand-lime stone bridge and a symbolic landmark of Altenbeken, fascinates railway fans and hikers alike. The 30 kilometer long viaduct hiking trail, which has been awarded the “Quality Trail for Hiking in Germany”, combines railway history with a natural experience in a unique way. Every two years, the “Vivat Viadukt” Railway & Culture Days attract tens of thousands of visitors. Viewpoints offer spectacular views of the viaduct illuminated at night, creating a magical atmosphere.
