The Fürstenstein lies at 675 meters on the northern slope of the Goldberg. It consists of gneiss phyllite with inclusions of black clay slate and was designated as a natural monument because of its geological peculiarity. The rock peak used to have a much larger circumference. In the middle of the 19th century, stones were quarried there for the mining office building, which was moved from Wunsiedel to Brandholz in 1856. Now it is only 30 meters wide, 30 meters long and 15 meters high.

The “Franconian Mountain Path” leads directly past the Fürstenstein.
The rock can be climbed, great view from above even if the surrounding trees are very high.

Very nice path up to the Fürstenstein. You can take really great photos on the rock.
