Gut Rastorf is situated in a picturesque location not far from the city of Preetz on the Schwentine.Rastorf's beginnings date back to the early Middle Ages, when a defense tower was built here - presumably to secure the border between the Slavic and Saxon regions. The resulting Rastorf estate has been owned by the Rantzau family since the 14th century. Today's courtyard was built between 1723 and 1729 according to plans by the famous Swedish-German baroque master builder, Rudolph Mattias Dallin. The tail gable and the axially symmetrical unity present us with one of the most beautiful and impressive courtyards in Schleswig-Holstein.The manor house was built in the early classicist style between 1803 and 1806 according to plans by the Danish architect, Christian Frederik Hansen. It was badly damaged in bombing during World War II. In 1966 the house was restored in its current form.
The unique architecture and the picturesque location of the manor in the Schwentine valley give Rastorf a special charisma and make it an attractive place to live and visit.Https://gut-rastorf.com

The manor house and the estate grounds are privately owned and not freely accessible to the public. Only the memorial stone for Christian Emil Rantzau on the hiking trail near the gatehouse can be viewed. The baroque-style farm building has been owned by the Rantzau family for 600 years. gut-rastorf.com
