Beer has been brewed in Wiehl-Bielstein since 1900. This has already earned the place the honorary title "Beer Village". The beer trail offers insights into the history of the local Erzquell brewery and the high art of brewing. He traces the ingredients that have been used to brew beer for centuries in accordance with the Purity Law of 1516: barley, hops and water.
The 13.4-kilometre circular trail accompanies the hiker to the source that supplies the water for the beer from Bielstein. The hiker learns that malt, which is obtained from barley, determines both the color and the full flavor of the beer, as well as the secrets of hops and yeast.
